People don't want to know about the dangers in their midst, it will cause them to doubt they are in good spiritual hands. When the first report of a monetary settlement hit our local newspapers, it fell upon deaf ears. One idiot brother/elder said "How will this person heal properly, since the "older men would not be able to grease their heads" (James wrote that passage with the offender in mind, not the victim of some rape) Once the first media blast passed, nothing changed, life went back to normal. When I read the accounts in (Silent Lambs and Barbara Anderson writings) it was apparent, this problem was wider, and the chief concern, was to protect Mother from litigation.
Personally I have seen JW elders treat victims of sexual abuse like dirt. How these self-proclaimed "annointed mens" try to salvage some child lovers, abusers is beyond my ability to comprehend. As a early teenager, one of my brothers friends was trying to help two fourteen year old girls, get into foster care, their step dad was abusing them. The two sisters never received any help from their Hall, C.P.S. finally put them in foster care. Age Sixteen, one of the eloquent brothers had taken a liking to his fifteen year old step- daughter, the mother was insane, beaten and allowed the abuse to continue, as long as he paid their bills. Last time I saw this girl, she was working as a sex worker (porn), damaged for life. No elders ever came to the rescue of any of these young girls, now I feel so dumb, thinking our Organization was blessed by Jehovah.
There are a few others, three of us tried to "out", a valuable brother, he had endless energy, think (Mr. Roboto) "doing the jobs that nobody want's to, his physical works for his Hall were tremendous, able to do the job of three elders. His friends stuck with him not believing all the facts, he was a "good brother, he won't do that!" When he was finally "outed", the outcome was insane, members from other Halls consoled him for all the pain he had suffered???????
The Society avoided the victim, the Halls treated ( the victim like a pariah) the innocent one, like the plague, they showed what truly mattered at all. Not the victim, only the good name of the Organization. Was any disciplinary action ever metted out to this man? (Fornication (heavy petting with 18 year old kids)offensives have had worse) Part of our group, contained a unstable angry elder, he was furious of the Society's judicial punishment! (What he screamed, this is wrong, they need to pay!) The brother played "the pedo's friend, in an attempt to crush him, "blanketed the parking lot with "Warning This Elder Is A Pedophile" "Called all the neighboors, his employer, sent many sisters letters. Still, the eternal loving friends did not want to be warned of the danger in their midst. They accused the acussers of being vigilante, as jealous of brother pedo's fine works, "how can men be so evil and unforving of the unfortunate elder's error?
Ignorant men and women bonded, defended his actions, the local "Herod and his wife Jezebel" have done their best to downplay the sex acts this man commited with a infant. There is a cowardice inside the congregations, that creates a perfect breeding ground for stupid and not-so-stupid sex predators. Since "All Jehovah's Witnesses Are My Brother And Sister, They Must Be Good!"
Can't you see how a predator can view this group, as a sex offenders paradise? Slowly become somebody's spiritual son or daughter, and build their trust, you can be baby sitting, "good brothers don't hurt JWs" It's obscence, a unregisterd sex offender, has access to his spiritual father's 6 year old son or daughter, no alarm bells are not ringing, "he is our brother!" All because of the propaganda that "Jehovah Removes The Wicked Ones From His Congregation" "Jehovah's Kingdom Halls are a refuge from the unsafe world" "Jehovah's Witnesses are the best friends you can have in this wicked world!" "No Sex Offender Would Enter A Kingdom Hall, Jehovah would strike them dead!" We are lost, losing traction, bleeding cash and our leaders have no idea why!
